Welcome to the Mohawk Amateur Radio Club!
Are you interested in learning about new things, emerging technologies, nature, physics, and electronics? Are you interested in communicating locally or internationally, without the aid of expensive infrastructure such as the internet, cable provider, cell phone or landline telephone systems monthly costs? How about having a casual conversation with an astronaut aboard the International Space Station? STEM students will find this hobby exceedingly helpful in their studies and give them an edge competing with their peers.
Welcome to the world of Amateur Radio, the most fascinating social and technological hobby in the world. From rock stars, to movie and TV stars, to politicians, to inventors, and regular folk, amateur radio operators participate in a wide variety of activities that most could not fully experience in a lifetime.
Meet us
Social Events
We have regular monthly meetings held on the 4th Monday of the month at 7:00 PM at the Gardner Police HQ community room (200 Main St, Gardner, MA) where we discuss club activities and business of the month. Most meetings are usually accompanied by an interesting guest speaker or presentation on various amateur radio topics. We also have an active Google Group and Facebook site to keep in touch between meetings. Beyond online communication we have several repeaters operated by the club for ‘on the go’ and instant communication as only amateur radio can provide.

Field Day
There are chances to try out and expand your radio horizons at the gatherings. Field Day is an excellent time to pitch in and build an HF station from scratch in the field, where one must improvise and leverage every advantage from the terrain. Similarly, at our periodic outdoor gatherings, one gets to see and operate a no-fuss HF, VHF and UHF station that's powered by deep-cycle batteries.
